The Forty-Minute Voicemail

We sat in on a primary care clinic last Tuesday. A medical assistant spent forty minutes leaving the same voicemail twenty-three times.
The voicemail was a confirmation call. The work had to be done. It did not need a human at the keyboard.
This is the kind of work we automate. Not the diagnosis. Not the conversation with the patient. The typing, the calling, the chasing. The operational floor under the clinical work.
What the day actually looked like
- 137 outbound dials
- 89 voicemails
- 11 actual conversations
- 6 reschedules captured
- 2 escalations to a clinician
A specialist agent does the first three rows. A human handles the last two. The clinician keeps the relationship. The agent handles the typing.
Why we build it this way
One agent per workflow. Not a chatbot. Not a generalist. The voicemail bot is good at voicemails and nothing else, and that is the point.
